OutsideIn Hat

It should be spring already. I miss it after this long winder we have had this year. In hopes for some warm weather arriving soon to our doorsteps, I have published a new pattern for my second hat, which is my last winter-like design for this season.

Welcome my → OutsideIn Hat, a matching design to the → InsideOut Hat, which I wrote about last month in my InsideOut Hat post. The two are a couple.

Both hats are reversible, seamless and jogless but they differ in shape. The InsideOut Hat has specific construction of the crown while the OutsideIn Hat is taller and has a removable pompom.

The OutsideIn Hat is designed for those who like changes, who appreciate accessories and garments that can be used for different occasions simply by adding an element or arrange them in a certain way to change their style.

With OutsideIn Hat, you can decide whether you wish to wear it on the right or wrong side, having two different stitch patterns to choose from. Taking advantage of this feature makes your OutsideIn Hat (and InsideOut Hat, too, by the way) long-lasting. It will not wear out that quickly because you will be using both side of the textile interchangeably allowing the other side rest.

It is also possible to remove the pompom and wear the hat without it or add another pompom to obtain a different look. You could even add two or three smaller pompoms. No limits here.
Having two-sided hat by default and several replaceable pompoms, you get a versatile accessory for everyday use.

And, yes, you got it right, the pompom is removable. There is a trick I explain in the instructions, which allows for a quick attachment and a neat detachment.

The stitch pattern is based on the same concept I had when designing the InsideOut Hat (see my InsideOut Hat post). It is based on knits and purls but focusses on jogless purl rounds. There are no seams and the edge of the ribbing is neat so it looks good from every angle.

Similarly to the InsideOut Hat, the OutsideIn Hat knits in no time. It takes no longer than four hours for an intermediate knitter to complete this hat including making one pompom. It is definitely one of those accessories that make a great gift.

The pattern is available from the pattern section → OutsideIn Hat.

Enjoy making your own OutsideIn Hat and make sure to let me know how it turned out.
